Article Title Upper airway disease in Jeju Haenyeo: the aging and resilience cohort (JH-ARC) study
Abstract Jeju Haenyeo are traditional female breath-hold divers from Jeju Island, the southernmost and largest island of the Republic of Korea, who harvest marine products without modern diving equipment (1). During diving, they are repeatedly exposed to cold seawater, breath-holding, and pressure changes (2). The upper airway may be particularly vulnerable, as it is the first anatomical region directly exposed to seawater and pressure-related stimuli.
